The growth of hotels and short term rentals involves a progressive conversion of housing into accommodation for visitors. It excludes local residents from the possibility of accessing housing while also causing direct displacement. In other words, tourism is consolidating gentrification. The intention of this report is to inform policy makers who are working on the new regulations of tourist accommodation in Barcelona.
